• Our mission is based on  promoting the organization of school, community and state programs of health, physical education, recreation and dance which will embody maximum opportunities and will ensure the inclusion of excellent programs within the best philosophical and context of American life.

  • The Oklahoma Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance is Oklahoma's state professional organization. We are affiliated with regional and national associations; SHAPE America Southern District Association, and the Society of Health and Physical Education of America (SHAPE America). We invite students and professionals involved in all aspects of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance to join our organization. Our membership includes those who are affiliated with public and private elementary and secondary schools, colleges and universities and recreation and dance centers. We serve people of all ages and abilities from early childhood to senior citizen. OAHPERD is an association of professionals in the state of Oklahoma. Members pay annual dues to the association which provides members with state newsletters, state journals, member fees (reduced fees) at the annual state convention, and regional conferences. OAHPERD membership is separate from membership in SHAPE America. Oklahoma Educators are encouraged to join OAHPERD and SHAPE America to strengthen our profession at the local as well as the national level.

  • When you register for the annual OAHPERD convention, you will:

    • participate in programs of personal interest

    • receive four issues of the OAHPERD Journal, our state professional journal, annually

    • receive notification of clinics, workshops and conferences sponsored by OAHPERD

    • receive information about workshops throughout the year, listserv resources, and national initiatives

      When you register for the annual OAHPERD convention, you will have the opportunity to:

    • write/publish articles and make announcements of happenings in OAHPERD Journal and Newsletter

    • nominate and recognize members for achievements on behalf of the Association and the profession at the annual convention

    • be actively involved in the political action network responsive to legislative issues

    • become actively involved in the leadership of OAHPERD

    • be an active member of the Future Professional Council
